This story is about a mother who wants her son to do well in life and follow in her footsteps. Her plan for him is going to college after high school. She herself comes from a well off family in which both of her parent’s completed college. Growing up she attended the best schools and went to one of the best colleges herself. Everyone she knew growing up went to college also. She want’s the same thing for her son.

She is fighting an internal battle about whether to allow her son to be who he is or should she push him to become who she want’s him to be. She tried her best to raise him right by doing the things that good parent’s do. She raised him in a great neighborhood and sent him to the best schools, got him into sports and sent him to music class and church too. That was something that she loved to do, but it didn’t interest her son at all. That upset her, she wanted him to love what she loved and he didn’t. Reading was another love of hers that her son did not like.

He also hates high school and does not want to go to college., he gets bad grades and makes bad choices in school. Regardless he is a sweet and easy going person who is comfortable in his own skin. He tells his mother that school holds no interest for him and he want’s to enter a Career Center instead of going to college. She pushes that thought aside and starts to worry about her son’s future. She’s concerned for him  and wonder’s where she went wrong raising him. How will he support himself without college, what kinds of jobs will he get is all she can think about.

It’s been a long struggle and she finally realizes that he has to make his own choices in life and she has to stop worrying about what other people will say about him because he doesn’t go to college. He has to make his own path and do what makes him happy because he is his own person.
